About these terms
These Terms of Use govern your use of Mike-1 at mikefromindexlaw.com. Mike-1 is run by ASI Labs, Inc., doing business as Index Law, a Delaware corporation and a Y Combinator company ("Index Law", "we", "us").
By creating an account or using Mike-1, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Mike-1 for a company, you confirm you can bind that company.
Research preview
Mike-1 is an experimental, technical research preview. Features may change, break or be removed without notice.
- Some features are simulated, including signing.
- Output quality can vary.
- Do not use Mike-1 as your only source for decisions that matter.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. You may not use Mike-1 if the law where you live forbids it.
Your account
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password safe and do not share your account.
- Tell us at q@indexlaw.com if you think someone has used your account.
- You are responsible for activity on your account.
Acceptable use
Do not use Mike-1 to:
- Break the law or help anyone else do so.
- Upload content you have no right to share, or that infringes someone's rights.
- Harass, defraud or mislead anyone, including by presenting simulated signatures as real.
- Probe, attack or overload the service, or get around its limits or security.
- Scrape, copy or reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing product.
- Upload malware or personal data you have no lawful basis to process.
We may suspend access if we reasonably believe you have broken these rules.
Your content
You keep all rights in the documents, questions and other content you put into Mike-1 ("Your Content").
You give us a limited licence to host, copy, process and send Your Content to our service providers, only as needed to run Mike-1 for you, keep it secure and meet the law.
- We do not use Your Content to train our own models.
- We only use AI providers whose terms do not permit them to train on Your Content.
- You are responsible for having the rights and permissions to upload Your Content.
AI output and legal advice
Mike-1 uses AI to generate answers, drafts and documents ("Output"). Output may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
- Check Output before you rely on it, sign it or send it.
- Mike-1 is not a law firm and is not a substitute for a lawyer.
- Using Mike-1 does not create a lawyer-client relationship.
- A lawyer-client relationship exists only if you separately engage a lawyer.
If you escalate a matter to a human lawyer, that work is under separate terms that you agree with that lawyer or firm before work starts.
As between you and us, you own the Output we generate for you, subject to these terms. Similar Output may be generated for other users.
Simulated signing
Signing in the research preview is simulated. A simulated signature, envelope, email or certificate has no legal effect and does not create a binding agreement.
Do not present a simulated signature as a real one. Use a proper e-signature process for anything you intend to be binding.
Our intellectual property
Mike-1, its software, design and brand belong to Index Law and its licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Mike-1 under these terms.
If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
Availability and changes to the service
We aim to keep Mike-1 available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. We may change, pause or end any feature, or the preview, at any time.
Keep your own copies of anything important. Download what you need before the preview ends.
Disclaimers
Mike-1 is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill.
Our total liability for all claims about Mike-1 is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100.
We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using Mike-1 and ask us to close your account at any time by emailing q@indexlaw.com.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we end the preview. Where we can, we will give you notice and a chance to export your content.
Sections that by their nature should survive, such as Your Content, disclaimers, liability and governing law, survive termination.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of laws rules.
Disputes go to the state and federal courts located in Delaware, and both of us agree to their jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring claims in your local courts.
